August 21-23: Central Texas Trip with the Bryans!
We spent a great weekend with Bill & Corinne traveling in Central Texas! Friday afternoon we drove down to a family favorite - the Stagecoach Inn in Salado, TX. We had dinner at their dining room, complete with (our) traditional Strawberry Kiss (a dessert of ice cream on merengue, topped with strawberries)! Then Saturday, after the guys biked around town, we headed to San Marcos for a dip in the Guadalupe! We had a great time tubing - lazing in the sun. (No sun burns, even!) Then we checked into a hotel in New Braunfels for a little nap before dinner at the Gristmill. We intended to dance at Gruene Hall, but were pretty pooped after the day... We decided it was a good reason to come back! Sunday we had a slow morning, and then hit the road back to Big D. All in all, it was a very nice weekend!
August 30-September 5: Surprise Vacation!
Tom & Jeanne have a time share in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, which they could not use this summer, so they graciously offered to share it with us! So we spent a week literally being beach-bums! We left the hotel complex twice that week - once to stock up at the grocery store, and once to eat at Hector's Sunset (a FANTASTIC hole-in-the-wall restaurant 100 yards down the beach). All in all, we had a wonderful week lounging in a beautiful place. A much-needed respite.

On Sept. 8th, we were sent a listing by our agent for a house that had just come back onto the market for a few days... Wednesday (9th) we went to look at it, and put in a bid. (This is a HUD home, which is being listed by a group that puts it online for bids... very fast process.) Friday we found out that we won the bid! We signed the paperwork and submitted it, and just found out yesterday that we now have a signed contract! We will have an inspection done, and then (assuming all checks out) will feel confident in saying we have a new home!! :-D Stay tuned for more details, but here's a quick preview...
