Last weekend, with the help of Bill & Corinne, we got the first coat of paint on almost everything that takes a flat finish (everything except kitchen and bathrooms). It's amazing how much of a difference paint makes!!
Here's a synopsis of the work that's been done so far:
- Filled in "jail" bars in living areas and master bath area
- Filled out raised flooring in master suite so that it's squared off instead of on a diagonal
- Added "pony" (half) wall in master suite to frame in raised flooring area
- New flooring installed in kitchen and breakfast room
- New baseboards installed throughout the house (they were missing and/or mismatched)
- Decided to replace lower kitchen cabinets in order to rearrange sink/dishwasher
* old lower cabinets removed
* new lower cabinets built
* 2 of 5 pieces of new lower cabinets installed
Still yet to be completed:
- Installation of 3 of 5 pieces of lower kitchen cabinets
- Installation of desk/vanity top in master suite (between door and pony wall)
- Installation of granite (yes, granite!) countertops in kitchen
- Installation of carpet in three bedrooms and (new!) front living/dining room (over the reddish tile)
This weekend we'll get the second coat of paint up, paint the kitchen cabinets and baseboards throughout the house, and paint the kitchen (and bathrooms, if we can get there). This week the kitchen countertops will go in; appliances arrive on Friday (the 13th), and then we may start to move in next weekend!
Exciting times in the Tunks world... :-)
