This is Michelle (fellow participant), Adam's coach Shaughnessy, and Adam just before the start of the race.
The race consists of a 1.2-mile swim (sorry no pictures of this yet)...
... a 56-mile bike...
... and a 13.1-mile run (you know, to finish it off)!

He finished the race in 6 hours and 47 minutes -- 13 minutes faster than his previous Half IronMan!
Adam was a bit disappointed in this race because he pushed a bit too hard on the bike, so didn't have much left in his quads for the run. However, he did finish the whole race, and looked strong to the finish. He also accomplished this training round's goals: to begin losing weight (he's lost 30 lbs. since May), and to re-establish a good level of fitness (clearly done!); also, to finish this race - also done.
All in all, it was a good race.
