Birthday Celebrations!

Hello, again!

The most of biggest events in the last two weeks have been many birthday celebrations! :-)  I've had a blast wrapping up my 28th year.

We kicked it off with a repeat of last year's wine bar party.  Picture our house with dimmed lighting, lots of candles, cheese, pears, grapes, crackers, deli meats, and lots and lots of wine...  :-)  This year it wasn't pouring down rain so I finally got to create the perfect patio I wanted: tiki torches to set the mood (and keep bugs away), and Christmas lights lining the edge of the patio.  It was a nice, cool evening, which was perfect.  Thanks to all who were able to make it to help me celebrate! :-)  And a special thank you to those who brought wine -- so generous!!

Next was a true birthday surprise!  :-)  At work on my birthday I was showered with gifts from some of my coworkers and residents: I got a large jar candle & chocolate bunny, a Happy Birthday beanie bear, a necklace and keychain, two balloons, and lots of cards.  Such a great day!  Then, at the end of the day, when telling Adam all about it, he asked if I was ready for my next birthday surprise...  He's been working a lot lately, and as a token of his appreciation, his boss offered a (very!) nice dinner at Del Frisco's Steakhouse.  We decided to go all out on my birthday and spent a beautiful evening there.

Then was a family dinner at Dunston's Steakhouse!  (You know me...  beef girl!)  Another great evening of a slow, wonderful dinner.  Also, more birthday gifts!  I now (finally) own some TOMS shoes!  :-D  I have the Kenya Stripe Wedges and Black Glitters now...  I have a feeling this may become an addiction...  Thanks, too, to my brother who gave me some spending money at one of my favorite places... Target!

This weekend was a good one, too.  Adam spent Saturday playing Axis & Allies with some guy friends.  Sunday we picked up Agnes and headed to my folks' house for an Easter lunch with my godparents and their son Charlie.  It was another great meal.  We wrapped up Easter with a Skype chat with Jeanne & Tom.

Oh!  And we wrapped up the America's Boater's Course (put on by the Dallas Sail & Power Squadron) with our Ship kids, and each now have our Texas Boater's Licenses.  That and a sail on the 9th were the only Ship events in April, ... but we're gearing up for a crazy May!  We've been invited to sail in the White Rock Lake Centennial Regatta, which should be a blast.  There are two practice times for our kids to learn on the small boats they'll be racing, and then the regatta, plus our first Bridge of Honor (rank advancement ceremony) and a sail with a guest Crew - and one more training session from the DSPS (this one on navigation) to keep us busy next month...  Lots going on!
