Happy Fall!

Can you (local folks) believe the fall weather we've been having lately?!  Amazing!  (Of course, as I type this, it's 96° outside...)  It's been beautiful for several days lately, and another cold front is coming in just in time for the weekend!

This is perfect timing for us, as Adam's uncle and aunt, Tim and Barb, are coming into town later this week, and we've got a fun-filled outdoor weekend planned!  We are thrilled to use our Dallas Arboretum membership whenever we can, and are excited to visit their nationally recognized Pumpkin Village for the first time this Saturday.  We actually took advantage of a beautiful day recently, just a week before the opening of the Pumpkin Village, and got a great photo with some of the pumpkins and gourds already staged:

Then on Sunday, a favorite family tradition of ours is to attend the great State Fair of Texas!  It's always a great way to kick off the fall, and - if we're lucky - we get some fall weather to go with it.  Last year it was a bit warm, and I was super-pregnant, so I got to take advantage of the "Princess Chair" (Agnes' wheelchair) to limit my walking, which got Adam and me a great front-row seat for the ostrich races...

Before the weekend of fun begins, we're hitting the road for a quick trip to the coast.  Adam has secured a spot on the crew of the Point Glass, an 82-foot decommissioned U.S. Coast Guard Cutter, now serving as a Sea Scout training vessel and - this week - serving as the safety vessel for the Harvest Moon Regatta.  Jeremy and I will get to visit my college roommate Meghan in Houston while Adam's on the Point Glass (which departs Galveston early Thursday morning, and finishes up the overnight race in Corpus Christi on Friday).  We'll then head home Friday for the weekend fun.  Adam's excited to start his birthday on a big boat!

It's been a fun-filled, adventurous summer for us.  Please check out our Shutterfly page for pictures.  Here are some highlights:
- Sold our first house -- for a profit!!
- Second annual Tunks Family Lake Day on Independence Day weekend
- Moved into Adam's childhood house (though it's different from the last time he lived here!)
- Six-day trip to Galveston with our Sea Scouts Ship - with Jeremy!
- Jeremy's first circus!
... Oh, and our sixth wedding anniversary!  (We spent the night out - my first night away from Jeremy! - and had a fantastic time.)

Hope you're all well, and that you'll drop us a note when you have a chance.  We'd love to hear how you're doing!
