Starting fresh...

Well, it's obviously been a while... But I'm going to take another run at this blog thing!

I had been keeping this blog to family, with the fantasy that perhaps someday it would become an online homebase for our extended family (or families) to keep in touch, but seeing my posting habits, I think it's better to keep it simple. (If someday we decide we want a family blog, we can create one.) So now I'm publicizing this to friends as well. It's just a way for everyone to keep in touch with what's going on with us. :-)

All is well with us these days!

We're enjoying just living in our house now (rather than working on it constantly). However, spring is bringing more projects. In a way, it was really nice to move in during the late fall, which kept some major projects at bay for a while... But now we're into the yard! Adam has been mowing, which is great (and easier now that the forest of weeds has been cut back) -- especially since he was quite calm (and I was not) about coming across a garden snake! This weekend we'll get petunias and impatiens to plant... here we go!

Adam's gearing up for an Olympic-distance triathlon on May 16th. (Olympic distance is half of a Half-IronMan.) He's still training as though he were going to run a Half-IronMan, though, and plans to complete one later this year. Sea Scouts is still rolling well - we have a bit larger of a regular group of active youth now (went from 3 to about 5 or 6). Everything else just keeps rolling!

Note the One Day Without Shoes picture today... TOMS Shoes is a company founded by an SMU alum that provides one pair of shoes to a child in need for every pair purchased from the company. Check out http://www.tomsshoes.com/ for more info. Each year they promote "One Day Without Shoes" to raise awareness of the fact that many school-children around the world don't have shoes to wear. Today is this year's One Day Without Shoes. Consider kicking off your shoes for some amount of time today, both as a reminder to yourself of the struggles some children bear and to raise awareness in others of this important issue. Check out http://www.onedaywithoutshoes.com/ for more information.

Hope you are all well! That's all for now...
